AARON KENNY (Music) & GREGORY BONSIGNORE (LYRICS/BOOK)
Gregory grew up in Texas, where he wrote his 5th grade musical and subsequently got beat up for all of 6th and much of 7th grade, while comparatively Aaron grew up in Australia winning Australian Young Composer of the Year. They met in New York at the prestigious BMI Musical Theatre Workshop (that birthed A Chorus Line, Ragtime, Nine, Little Shop of Horrors & Avenue Q) where they first collaborated on a Blanche DuBois song, collaborated together all of the second year program and were both invited to the Advanced program, where they have continued to develop The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Independently, Aaron was featured by ASCAP as a “Composer to Watch,” won Best Original Score winner for Hand Model: The Musical. His musical On Your Mark debuted off-Broadway in 2016. Currently in the position of Music Assistant to Alan Menken, he has worked on the current productions of: Beauty and the Beast (2017 Musical Live Action), Sausage Party (2016 Animated), Galavant(ABC Television; Season 1 & 2), as well as musical developmental readings of Kicks and Mrs. Doubtfire.
Whilst, Gregory wrote Book/Lyrics/Directed Gorgonzola: A Cautionary Sicilian Tale Off-Broadway (winner best lyrics / best musical, Sound Bites Festival), co-wrote book/lyrics for Atomic Off-Broadway, world-premiere in Sydney, Australia. He optioned the musical WWII U.S.O. TV pilot Company B, and sold the pilot Rare to Philip Seymour Hoffman's company Cooperstown. As a playwright, Gregory was the Playwright in Residence at Egypt's Library of Alexandria and his play Three was a finalist for The Sam French Prize and invited to the Best American Shorts Festival. He was trained at NYU, BBC, is proudly WGA & Dramatist’s Guild.
Together, they have most recently had a workshop of The Talented Mr. Ripley and wrote the jarringly catchy musical numbers for the film Jihadi Street - satirizing the Sesame Street-style musical videos ISIS uses to lure children to fight and die for them ...now in festivals.
